About US

The North East Strategic Partnership for Schools (NESPSS) is an emerging partnership of public, private and voluntary sector organisations who support schools with education for sustainable development initiatives and projects.

This partnership has built upon work undertaken in the late 1990's through the Regional Organisation for Sustainability Education (ROSE), this initiative brought together a wide range of organisations in the region who 'signed up' to the concept of partnership working. This lead to a bid for landfill tax funds which unfortunately failed. However the enthusiasm, determination and belief in the value and strength of partnership working lead to the formation of NESPSS.

NESPSS is formally governed by a long established regional charity (North East Environment Network) which has realigned its objectives to focus on this area of work.

The DCSF actioned regional Goverment Offices to stimulate good practice networks linking schools with regional demand for sustainability skills in its response to the Sustainable Schools Framework Consultation. This has enhanced the work of NESPSS.
