Latest News 27th June 2008 The Solar Car Challenge 2008 finals are taking place at Nissan on Friday 11th July, 10-2.30pm. The finals will be attended by primary pupils from across the region who will be racing their solar cars and having their radical deisgns judged by a panel of experts. For more information contact Brian Yule. 19th June 2008 Teesside One World Centre is organizing a FREE Twilight Workshop: 'Introduction to Fairtrade Schools' Wednesday 9th July 2008 from 4 until 5.45pm. The workshop is appropriate for school staff or community supporters who want to learn about * the requirements of the Fairtrade School Scheme; * the opportunities for learning about world trade and fair trade in the school curriculum; * the support available from Teesside One World Centre and One World Network North East; * resources to support Fairtrade. The deadline for bids is Friday 4th July at 5pm. More information is available from here. 22nd May 2008 The full report highlighting the findings from local authority and partners research comissioned by NESPSS and GONE is available to download from the Document library. It highlights some key issues for the region to take forward the support for Sustainable Schools from LA's and partners. 22nd May 2008 The DCSF Sustainable Schools team have produced the 'Planning a Sustainable School' document, which can be downloaded or ordered from here. 22nd May 2008 The long awaited Ofsted report on Sustainable Schools activity is now available to download from here. 20th May 2008 The National College for School Leadership (NCSL) have produced a Sustainable Schools Toolkit. Its costs £15 and can be ordered from here. 12th May 2008 The BBC Breathing Places website has launched this terms 'Do One Thing' activity which is to create a minibeast corner. Its aimed at schools, local authorities and partners who want to investigate sustainability issues linked to school food. Click here for more information and to register. 14th March 2008 The Climate Change Schools Project received their new electric Smart car last week which will be powered by the wind turbine at the Science Learning Centre in Durham, but it can be plugged in and charged anywhere with a 3 pin plug. Its being done on a first come first served basis so be quick.
