Its an interesting read and there's interactive sessions on there too. Worth a look www.sustainablefood.com 26th September 2006 The Designs of the Times Eco- Challenge is being launched today. Year 8 pupils are being invited to take a 'eco footprint' of a typical school day - recording everything from how many miles their food has to travel before it reaches their plates, to how much energy and water is used to heat and clean their classrooms. They will then design new and improved ways of reducing their school's footprint - with the winners being rewarded with a visit from a top flight designer, to help take their ideas to the next stage. Be quick!! 22nd September 2006 NESPSS would like to develop a regional Year of Action to complement the national DfES Year of Action for Sustainable Schools. If you have any ideas on what could be included do get in touch. 18th September 2006 Cook-It! is a new secondary school cooking initiative being developed in the North East by Continyou, the organisation leading on Extended Services provision. There are two events promoting the programme this week, at Middlesbrough FC on 19th September and the Prestige Hotel, Newcastle on 20th. For more details contact chantelle.peat@continyou.org.uk 11th September 2006 The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) and the University of York Department of Educational Studies are delighted to announce that they have secured funding from the Training and Development Agency for Schools for applicants with an interest in 'Education for Sustainable Development' to undertake the two-year part-time MA in Education (by research) programme at the University of York. The MA in Education by Research with ESD is designed for practitioners who wish to embrace ESD developments or who wish to forge new practice in the classroom. Click here for more information. 22nd August 2006 Following a meeting yesterday with CDEC in Ambleside we were informed about a conference on 6th October at Brockhole, Windermere orgainsed by the Adventure and Environmental Awareness Group.
