The Designs of the Times Eco- Challenge is being launched today. Year 8 pupils are being invited to take a 'eco footprint' of a typical school day - recording everything from how many miles their food has to travel before it reaches their plates, to how much energy and water is used to heat and clean their classrooms. They will then design new and improved ways of reducing their school's footprint - with the winners being rewarded with a visit from a top flight designer, to help take their ideas to the next stage.
